Welcome Wolseley Autumn 2024!
Follow up from our First Wolseley Great Burdock Pull 2024 at Omands Park -a Huge Success!
Kudos again to our Trees Committee & Our Greenspace & Parks Committee, our Wolseley Community Gardens Committee, the handful of eager Wolseleyite neighbours, along with The City Of Winnipeg for helping to facilitate a truly successful community pull.
Our city specialist helped with demonstrating safe extraction & disposal of the invasive species -explaining the serious need to do so in our urban forest, while our Trees & Greenspaces Committees supplied gloves, bags, shears & snacks to our hardworking volunteers.

In only TWO short hours we collected an astounding SIX extra-large sized bags of of burdock along the Wolseley Ave. | Raglan Rd. entrance to the park & southeast side of our Omand's Creek!
Please message us if you care about the health of our Wolseley Urban forest& would like to play a role in ensuring the continued health of our community's trees & parks!

The Vimy Victory Garden produced an abundance of produce! The allotment beds are being cared for by 22 individual families from the community. Produce from the two big community beds was recently donated to Harvest Manitoba -thanks to help from Broadway-First Faith Community who help with one of the beds. Our fruit orchard also produced ripe fruit!

On Saturday, July 20th, the Wolseley Community Garden was a tour stop for the Manitoba Master Gardeners' annual garden tour which saw over 100 visitors. The purpose of the tour was to provide visitors with inspiration for their own gardens & to learn about environmentally friendly gardening practices.
Visitors are encouraged to take a self-guided tour & enjoy the interpretive signage describing the various garden nodes throughout the park

Vimy Victory Garden is in its fourth growing season - established in 2021 by the Wolseley Community Gardens' Committee (a sub-committee of the Wolseley Residents Association), &located in Vimy Ridge Memorial Park, the garden features 22 allotment raised garden beds, alongside two raised community garden beds &a native plant pollinator garden. The park is also home to an interspersed orchard, planted with apples, cherries, & plum trees, as well as berry bushes, all being tended to by community members!
Have a wonderful Wolseley Season!
Autumnal Wolseley Greenway Updates
Wolseley Avenue now has a permanent reduced speed limit of 30km/ hr in effect 24 hours per day, 7 days a week!
The curb extensions & new light beacons (RRFBs) have been installed; the main items left to install before November are the 11 speed tables along Wolseley Avenue.

Construction of the Wolseley Avenue greenway between Raglan Road & Walnut Street began in July. Once construction is complete, the City of Winnipeg will conduct a survey through their engagement process.

Check the City of Winnipeg's website for more information on the Wolseley Avenue greenway. The "Phase 4" folder under the "Documents" contains detailed maps.
Lipton Street Renewal Progress
We see signs of normal street activity stirring up on Lipton Street!
Looks like residents of both Lipton blocks from Palmerston- Wolseley & Wolseley-Westminster have regained full access to their newly restored street, front parking & all!
We are happy to report broken sidewalk sections, road pavement, & boulevards are repaired!
Rumour has it even the infamous unofficial Lipton Street traffic bump (ie. sunken road section) between the Palmerston-Wolseley block has been safely corrected!!
...We are so happy the whole street was finally finished before the first snowfall! Kudos to the construction teams & the City of Winnipeg Public Works for getting this done quickly! -We especially appreciate the care workers took with our community's Wolseley Urban Forest!
Huge Thank you to our sponsors!
Big thanks goes out to our local credit union Belgian Alliance Credit Union at 1117 Portage Avenue for their donation!
Thank you again to Tall Grass Prairie Bakery, a veritable Wolseley institution at 859 Westminster Avenue for their enduring support!
And of course, always a GREAT shout out to our City Of Winnipeg for their continued financial support, especially towards funding many of the endeavors & activities made possibly through our Wolseley Community Gardens Committee!
Generous financial supporters from our community, along with countless volunteer hours from our neighbours, enable us to provide exceptional programming, keep our community regularly informed, & continue to act as a positive voice for our residents
