Save the Date for our Trees Committee Dutch Elm Disease Seminar - April 2025!

Join us Tuesday, April 22nd, 6:30 pm for an everything you need to know about Dutch Elm Disease treatment, prevention & more!

SAVING OUR ELMS, EARTH DAY, APRIL 22nd, 2025

In the heart of our Wolseley community there are about 150 elm trees on Westminster & Wolseley Avenues alone!

Dutch Elm
Disease kills 10 to 15 of these trees -EACH YEAR.

At this rate, in 10 years, there could be no Elm trees left on either of our primary streets...

WRA Tree Committee's next neighbourhood project focusses on preserving these avenues, our gateways to the neighbourhood, & heart of our community!

We've all seen the "orange dot of death"  on too many elms in our neighbourhood.

With recent developments in tree care, there is now something that can be done!

Preserving as many mature elm trees as possible will allow newly planted trees to mature beneath a flourishing canopy of majestic elms.

The City of Morden, the neighbourhood of Glenelm & our own Wolseley residents on Newman Street have all had great success.

Come learn more at our WRA event & see how you too can save your street's elm trees!

Wolseley Construction Update

Wolseley Construction Updates

Wolseley Avenue Update

City of Winnipeg Engage Website:

"Construction of the Wolseley Avenue neighbourhood greenway between Raglan Road & Maryland Street is now complete!

You might have seen tubes on Wolseley Avenue & Westminster Avenue in October 2024. These tubes collect traffic information, like how fast cars are going & how many people are using the road. This will help determine whether the new traffic calming elements are helping us meet our technical criteria for an all ages & abilities route.

We also want to ask people in the neighborhood how they feel about the changes. The community & stakeholder engagement we previously planned for November 2024 is delayed because construction took longer than anticipated.

We want to make sure you’ve had enough time to fully experience the changes, so we’ll come back to ask for your feedback in late spring 2025"

Omand's Bridge Update
City of Winnipeg Engage Website:

"We’re moving to the next stage of planning for a new bridge and accessible pathways. On December 12, 2024 Council approved the Report of the Standing Policy Committee on Public Works(External link) to start planning & designing a new pedestrian bridge & accessible pathways.

The next step is hiring a consultant to work on the preliminary design of the Omand Park Pedestrian/Cycle Bridge replacement.

We used what we heard from you to help define the scope of this contract. Because of your input, we are asking prospective consultants to commit to:

  • Improving accessibility
  • Protecting the natural environment
  • Addressing flood risks

Once we award the contract, we will work with the consultant to prepare design options. We will bring these design options to you later this year for feedback.

Sign up for project updates, and we’ll let you know when engagement begins!"
