Wolseley Bike Parade 2021!
Hi Parents and Guardians.
This year our Covid Friendly, Second Annual Backwards Parade is Sunday, June 27 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, rain or shine.
Families from Mulvey School, École Laura Secord, & Wolseley School are invited to participate.
Our theme is Fabulous Future, Beautiful Bikes.
Participation is simple:
- All you have to do is make your bikes beautiful & ride your beautiful bikes to search for hidden scrambled letters located in & around the playgrounds of the three schools.
- Once you’ve found all the letters put them together to reveal a *top secret* message. Families that correctly reveal the *top secret* message are eligible to win a raffle prize.
A prize?
Yes, a prize!
Tall Grass Bakery has donated three vouchers for a 6-pack of their famous cinnamon buns (one pack for each school), Wall Street Slice has donated three vouchers for a family size pizza (one for each school), & the new Wolseley bike shop, Prairie Vélo, has donated three cool bike bells (one for, that’s right, each school !!!).
Another way to participate is to make some giant art (or tiny art if you prefer) & plant it anywhere on (open Street) Wolseley Avenue for everyone to enjoy.
You can also make a giant hopscotch on the sidewalk or road, paint flowers, rocket ships, or rainbows or anything you fancy that reflects our Fabulous Future theme (with water soluble paint or chalk please).

Everyone loves a Parade Covid Friendly Backwards Parade!
“What the heck is a Covid Friendly Backwards Parade?” you ask.
Good question. Read on to find out, but first a little about last year’s parade.
Last year’s parade was a smashing success with over 200 children and parents from Mulvey School, Wolseley School, and Laura Secord School in attendance. The community showed up in in droves and cheered the kids curbside. Over 50 volunteer marshals kept the kids safe as they cycled the course from Raglan Road to Mulvey School. There were cheering stations at all three schools, dozens of posters, clowns, a cheerful dinosaur, and tons of positive energy. It was grand!

This year’s Backwards Parade will be equally grand, but different.
“Hmmm” you say, “how will it be different, how will it be grand?”
Here’s how.
To adhere to public health regulations, we have adjusted the format of this year’s parade. We will host a 'backwards parade' meaning families from the three community schools are encouraged to decorate the course along Wolseley Avenue between Raglan Road and Mulvey School. There is no start, no finish, and no gathering of any kind other than what you might expect on a typical Sunday in the neighbourhood. In addition to the backwards parade, there will be a word scramble. Fifteen letters and two punctuation marks will be 'hidden' on the playgrounds of the three schools. Families are encouraged to find the letters and descramble them to reveal a *top secret* message.
This year's theme is Fabulous Future, Beautiful Bikes. So please, on Sunday June 27, make your bike beautiful, plant some fabulous art anywhere along Wolseley Avenue between Raglan Road and Mulvey School, and use your sleuthing skills to find and decipher the secret message.
“Okay” you say, “now I get it, a backwards parade sure sounds awesome!”
Thanks! We will keep you updated. In the meantime, for more information contact:
